Kinpira Gobo

Ingredients:

  • 300 Grams Gobo root, Juliened
  • 100 Grams Carrots, Juliened
  • 2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Sake/ Cooking wine
  • 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Dried Chilli, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Sesame Seeds

Directions:

  • In a bowl fill up water and soak the gobo roots for 10 minutes. 
  • Chage the water halfway and rinse under cold water.
  • In a wok or non-stick pan heat up oil.
  • Add the gobo roots and cook for couple minutes.
  • Once the gobo seems half way cooked add carrots.
  • Stir fry and cook until both vegetables are tender.
  • Add sugar, sake, vinegar, soy sauce, and salt.
  • Add chopped chilli and cook until all the liquid evaporates.
  • Serve and garnish with sesame seeds.
