Apple Upside Down Cake

Ingredients:

  • 14 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1/8 Tsp All-Spice
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 6 Tbsp Milk
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Large Apple, Peeled and sliced 1/4 Inch slices

Directions:

  • Pre-Heat oven to 350 F.
  • In a saucepan heat up 6 Tbsp of Butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  • Melt the butter and cook the mixture until it slightly thickens.
  • Turn of the heat then add 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and All-spice.
  • Transfer the mix to a cake pan or 4 ramekins. 
  • Arrange apple slices on top of the mix and cover most of the pan.
  • Refrigerate the pan for 15 minutes. 
  • In a bowl cream rest of the butter using a whisk.
  • Add rest of the brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix.
  • Add eggs, and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl whisk together, flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  • Add milk and mix until just combined. Don't Over mix 
  • Make sure there are no lumps.
  • Pour the cake mix into pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes and cover with foil halfway through baking.
  • Check with toothpick and make sure it comes out clean when inserted in center.
